So I won’t lie, I’ve been creating this series over literal months. Why has it taken me so long? because I currently struggle to self discipline and also procrastinate too much, but I’m changing this slowly 😛
As it’s quite evident, the series takes inspiration from the 5 elements
- Fire
- Air
- Lightning
- Earth
- Water
I only used clothes that I already owned for each look and for some I incorporated some DIY, I’ll explain more throughout the blog.
Oh and I also styled shot and edited all shoots myself!
WATER
This shoot had a lot of creating involved. I customised a stick on bra and shorts that I already owned to create a mermaid-esk outfit. I made the props from used plastic bottles.
There was meant to be more going for this shoot, but everything took so long and kept falling apart, so I just simplified it to keep my sanity.
FIRE
For this look I bleached one of my own black tracksuits and socks to create a burnt effect. I then took the photos to Photoshop and created my own flame stamp to enhance the look. I also tried shooting through a cardboard tube to see what effect it would create.
Hoodie and joggers – Nike, Sports Direct
Top – Nike, Footasylum
Sneakers – Nike TN, Footlocker
AIR
This was actually the first look I created and probably took the longest. Firstly I cut out cloud shapes from spare cardboard and glued the inside of an old pillow to them. I placed a duvet over a table and then put the left over pillow on top. The butterflies in my hair are printed from Google and attached with a bobby pin.
Top and skirt – Old H&M
LIGHTNING
This look too me a while because the fairy lights kept falling down but in post I decided to create my own lightning stamp anyway on Photoshop. At home we wash and reuse tin foil when cooking, so I had a lot saved up ready for this shoot, to place on the floor.
Sunglasses – ASOS
Top and shorts – Old H&M
Jacket – Puma x ICNY
Sneakers – Nike TN, Footlocker
EARTH
The cardboard used as the backdrop is MASSIVE and it presented one hell of a challenge but I clearly worked something out in the end.
My original idea was to be surrounded by potted plants but that didn’t go to plan so I found some fake flowers in the house instead and kept it simple.
Top and shorts – Old H&M
Socks – Primark
Boots – EGO Official
