Mykonos 2018

Location : Mykonos, Greece

Landed : Sunday 7th October

Duration : 7th-11th October

Accommodation : Olia Hotel

Day One

We’ve landed in Mykonos, found our hotel shuttle driver and stepped outside where we had to wait for 4 others to join us. Literally the second we stepped outside, I saw a cat and then maybe another 2 (I knew this was going to be a great trip ๐Ÿ˜) Once the other 4 had joined us, we were taken on a little detour before going straight to the hotel, our driver gave us so much information on the island and lots of positive vibes.

We checked in, the staff were so friendly and welcoming and the hotel itself was gorgeous, the rooms were simple but so clean, the surrounding area was beautiful and we were right by one of the ports so we had the sea on our doorstep. The hotel also had a restaurant, pool, bar and activity bookings.

For the first day, Colls and I left our phones and cameras in the hotel (To enjoy everything around us, without seeing it all through screens) and walked into town with our 4 new friends, the walk was only about 20 minutes but there are no paths in Mykonos, so you have to be careful when walking with the road being on one side and the cliff edge on the other!

We explored town, seeing allllll the cats, hopping in a few shops before making our way back to the hotel, where we took a couple photos and then had dinner in the restaurant.

– Colls had the hotel arrange some anniversary gifts for when we arrived into our room –

Day Two

Breakfast was included in our stay so we went down to see what there was to offer, I personally think the selection of food was great as there was a lot of choice! We got to enjoy our breakfast whilst looking out at the sea, which was such a big bonus (plus there was a cat who decided to join us)

For the second day we decided to walk in the opposite direction to the day before, about 10 minutes later we came across a beach, where we took lots of photos and then just relaxed on the sun beds enjoying the weather.

When we came back to the hotel, we got changed and headed back into town to use the rest of daylight for photos and then to get some dinner. I would recommend a slightly big budget for Mykonos if you’re planning to eat out, as it wasn’t ‘cheap’ but then again, the quality of food was amazing so I guess you’re paying for the quality.

After dinner we jumped on the Sea Bus which was only 2 euros each and a short journey back to our port.

Day Three

So the weather for the first two days was amazing! So hot and sunny, but then came Tuesday (and the rest of the stay) where yes, it was still sunny as anything but the wind…. The wind was extra af, it was stronggggg!

This day was the day we decided to take the ferry trip to Delos (an island/archaeological site about 30 mins from Mykonos) After breakfast, we walked into town to purchase ferry tickets they were 20 euros each for return tickets. When you reach the island you then have to pay 12 euros each to actually enter the site. We spent about 2 hours at Delos, exploring the site, seeing alllllll the cats, visiting the museum and battling a long and very high climb up to a point where you could see the whole site, the wind wasn’t very friendly at all though. To be honest, there isn’t really much to see at Delos, as you can imagine for an archaeological site, but nonetheless I would still recommend visiting.

Once we got back to the port, it was still fairly early so we walked up to the windmills, explored the surrounding areas, and did some souvenir shopping, before ending the night back at the hotel.

Day Four

Yet another hotel breakfast… This day was the day of renting a quad bike, I have never ridden a quad bike in my life and at first, I was a little worried, but once I got going it was so much fun! We literally just followed the roads around and explored the island on quads rather than walking.

We were out for a couple of hours before coming back to the hotel so Colls could have a swim in the pool and so we could relax for a bit. Once the relaxing was done, we jumped back onto the quad bike, but this time with our new friends and we all conveyed up to an incomplete house, where you could see for miles it made for such a beautiful view!

Day Five

This was our last full day in Mykonos and we decided to spend the day literally chilling at the hotel, the sun was beaming, but the wind was strong so it was a pain for photoshoots, we weren’t able to get as many photographs of each other as we wanted but we still enjoyed this day completely relaxing.

We spent the evening in town, taking photos, visiting shops and having dinner by the sea. Other than that, there isn’t much else to say about this day!

Day Six

Hometime! Our flight wasn’t until 2pm so we had time to lounge around before catching our plane.
